March Redleaf Tickler

The March Tickler is from G. Schulte of Carousel Daycare:

Last summer I got frantic call from a parent asking what she should do. Her four-year-old son had a sprinkler-washer stuck on his finger. Since the mother had already tried soap, I called the local fire department and told her to meet me at my daycare.

Before long, there were three firefighters trying every tool possible to free the washer that was stuck on the boy's finger. After trying almost everything, one of the firefighters made a suggestion for yet another tool.  His colleague replied, "OK, let's give it a shot."

After hearing this, the little boy freaked out. He started screaming, "No, I don't want to get a shot." Being a child care provider, I knew what the problem was.  I explained to the firemen that the boy thought they were going to give him a shot.  The men got a good laugh and I'm sure they'll think the way they phrase things the next time they're helping a child in need!
